City of Grand Rapids

Wealthy Street (Front to Market) is an important crossing of the Grand River and is a “Proposed Separated / Raised Bikeway” in the Grand Rapids Bicycle Action Plan. A concept design meeting for Front Avenue (Wealthy to Butterworth) and Wealthy Street (Front to Market) took place on Monday, March 25, from 2-3 p.m. Click here to learn more about the project.

The Kent County Road Commission meets the second Tuesday of every month at 8 am at 1500 Scribner Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49504.

The Transportation Committee of the Essential Needs Task Force meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 8:30 am. Email entf@hwmuw.org for more information about how to get involved.

State Issues

League of Michigan Bicyclists

Incentivize E-Bike Purchases: E-Bikes are a game-changing form of low-carbon transportation. Sign a petition asking Governor Whitmer to support incentives that will make e-bikes more affordable.

Make Speed Limits Safer: PA 33 of 2024 became law on April 2, 2024. This gives “local communities more flexibility in setting speed limits.” Now, you should search crash data and use other sources to identify streets where speed limits should be lowered. Contact the City of Grand Rapids Traffic Calming Program to request lower speed limits or other traffic calming measures.
