GGRBC Honored With Community Support For Bicycling Award

Josh Duggan, Lindsey DesArmo and Barbara Schmid accepted the Community Support for Bicycling Award on behalf of the GGRBC, Wednesday, from the League of Michigan Bicyclists. The awards ceremony was held on the grounds of the State Capitol in Lansing as part of LMB's Lucinda Means Advocacy Day.

The Community Support for Bicycling Award is given to a business, organization or local group for support of cycling in their community during the past year, and for activities that support making Michigan a better place to bicycle.

Cited amongst its recent accomplishments: two successful Grand Rapids Bicycle Summits; successfully advocated for the City of GR to pass a Complete Streets Resolution; revised and updated the Bike GR map; conducted GR's first bike count/survey; created a Bicycle Friendly Employer program; launched its website; started a youth bicycle safety education program; and partnered with local organizations for the inaugural Active Commute Week.

LMB will be issuing a press release in the next few days.
