Mission and Vision

Mission

Changing Greater Grand Rapids into a safe bicycling community, and promoting the benefits of cycling for the economy, health, and the environment.

Vision

We are passionate cycling advocates who believe the vibrancy and vitality of our community depends upon creating a thriving bicycle culture where everyone has easy access to cycling for transportation and recreation.

Values

Community, Inclusion, Accessibility, Sustainability, and Health.

Why a Coalition?

Thriving bicycle advocacy organizations are active in major metropolitan areas throughout North America. The Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition fills that role in the Grand Rapids area as a grassroots coalition of advocates. GGRBC presents a unified voice for those who cycle for any reason. Our members are disabled and senior bicyclists, bicycle commuters, mountain bikers, bicycle club members, bicycle trail supporters, road, cyclocross and BMX racers, as well as health and environmental advocates who are working toward a healthier community.

GGRBC’s board includes representatives from the Rapid Wheelmen Bicycle Club, the Western Chapter of the Michigan Mountain Biking Association, and local bicycle-industry retailers and manufacturers.

All of us in the Coalition share a vision for a more bicycle friendly community that provides opportunities for safe riding conditions to all user groups. Our diversity is a strength- GGRBC is able to draw on the experience and resources of its varied members and constituent organizations. By serving as a spokesperson and advocate for our diverse constituency, GGRBC gives each member and partner organization a stronger voice.
